Preserving Barentsburg architectural heritage
The main task of the Studio brief was to develop projects aimed at preserving the existing heritage of Barentsburg and creatively rethinking the settlement’s main buildings and their functions. In 2024 DOM.RF laid out a master plan for reconstruction of Russian settlements in Svalbard.

The work on the project continued in 2025, in collaboration with MARCH (The Moscow Architecture School). Bachelor students at the Universal University were assigned to rethink the function of four main buildings of Barentsburg - the old canteen, the Plisetsky house, the Finnish houses, and the weather station.
